Knife Defense Seminar A Great Success

On Saturday, May 3rd, Krav Maga Maryland in Columbia hosted a four-hour seminar focusing on the topic of defending knife attacks in a variety of situations.  Almost fifty people were in attendance from all over the Baltimore and DC metro areas.

Krav Maga Maryland's Chief Instructor, Bryan Inagaki, led the day's instruction starting off with basic combative drills before moving on to the topic of the day - knife defenses!

Students were walked through a variety of techniques including defenses versus stabbing attacks as well as static threats with a knife.  Groans and grunts echoed through the training room as students defended attack after attack.  As each hour continued the students continued to work hard until many were covered head to toe in sweat.

True to Krav Maga's signature training methods, the students tested their skill under pressure with a variety of stress drills designed to mix attacks and increase the realism of the training.  The final exercise of the day consisted of each student defending non-stop knife attacks for two minutes.  The intensity in the room was amazing as wave after wave of attackers headed toward the defenders.  Each student finished the drill exhausted and spent, but with a much better understanding of how to defend a knife attack.

Krav Maga Maryland would like to thank all of the students that attended the seminar.  The training level on Saturday was out of this world, and we were excited to see so many current and former students from around the area.  Special thanks goes to the students from Virginia that made the trip all the way up to Columbia.  It was great to see everyone!
