Test Prep: What to do?
One of the most common questions we get from students before a test is, "what should I do to prepare?"  Every test is long and will push you to your limits, so here are a few tips that will help get you ready:

Hydrate yourself properly
Most people don't drink enough water on a daily basis, and dehydration during the test is very common.  Starting at least two days before the test you should make a conscious effort to hydrate as much as possible.  Don't worry, if you drink too much you'll just find yourself going to the bathroom a few extra times during the day.

Eat something before the test
Before each test there is a workshop that will last for a few hours.  The workshop is designed to be a quick review and is not conducted at 100% intensity, so don't be afraid to eat before you come.  However, don't be a pig and chow down three hamburgers before the workshop either.  Eat sensibly and make sure there are plenty of carbohydrates - you are going to need the energy.  Also, be sure to eat things you normally eat.  Don't try out some new fangled recipe or energy drink that you've never had before.

Bring plenty of water
It is highly recommended that you bring a large amount of water with you.  Some of our instructors can go through upwards of a gallon of water while they are testing, so plan accordingly.  Sports drinks like Gatorade are not generally recommended because the sugar content will often make people sick to their stomachs, especially when drinking in large quantities.  The best way to ensure that you are hydrated through the test is to drink plenty before you get there and drink continuously while at the test.

Bring snacks and other light food
Yellow belt workshops and tests can run anywhere from 4-6 hours, so you are going to want to have some light snacks available.  Protein bars, fruit, nuts, raisins - they are all good choices.  However, only bring things that you normally eat.  If you have never eaten a Power Bar in your life, don't bring one as a snack - your body will not like you.

Relax!
Most importantly, just relax.  If you hydrate properly, eat well, and relax before the test you will set yourself up for nothing but success.  Good luck, and we'll see you on test day!
